The face behind Inkourage

What is Medical Tattooing?
Medical tattooing focuses on restoring natural-looking detail to the skin after changes caused by surgery, injury, or medical conditions.
3D areola tattooing is a specialised medical tattoo technique used after mastectomy or breast reconstruction. Using advanced colour theory, shading, and light-reflection techniques, the tattoo creates the realistic appearance of a nipple and areola on the skin – without additional surgery. Although flat to the touch, the result can look remarkably natural and three-dimensional.
MCA (Microneedling / Medical Collagen Induction) scar treatments are non-surgical procedures used to improve the appearance and texture of scars. The aim of this treatment, using fine needles, is to stimulate the body’s natural healing response and collagen production. Over a course of treatments, this process can help scars become softer, smoother and less noticeable.

FAQs
Yes! Using a 10 step technique, shading and blending, the tattoo creates the appearance of a natural nipple and areola. Although flat to the touch, the result will in most cases look ultra realistic. This does however, depend on skin heath and healing.
Most clients find the tattooing very manageable. Sensation can vary depending on surgery and healing, but many people report minimal discomfort during the procedure.
Yes! Custom pigment blends are created to match your natural skin tone and the appearance of the areola for the most natural-looking result. This will be discussed further during the initial consultation.
Yes. A follow-up appointment is usually required around 6-8 weeks after the first treatment to perfect the colour and ensure the best long-term result.
Areola tattooing can support people who have experienced changes to their breasts after surgery, including: reconstruction, reduction, augmentation, trauma, or nipple loss.
No. Areola tattooing can be carried out after breast reconstruction, but it can also be performed on a flat chest following mastectomy if someone wishes to restore the appearance of an areola.
Yes, once you have fully healed and received medical clearance from your surgeon or healthcare professional. Safety and proper healing are always the priority before any treatment is performed.
Radiotherapy can affect the skin’s texture and healing time. Tattooing is still possible for many people, but treatment must only be carried out once the skin has completely healed and your medical team confirms it is safe.
A single areola can be recreated and carefully colour matched to the existing one to restore symmetry.
Like any tattoo, pigments may soften slightly over time. However, the placement and design aim to maintain a natural appearance, and colour refresh appointments can be done if needed.
